Description
The Saola (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis) was recognised by science in 1992. It stands almost a metre tall at the shoulder and can weigh around 100kg. Both sexes have horns which are used in defence to perhaps mark territory along with maxillary glands on the face. It is found along the boarder of Laos and Vietnam and may number as much as a few hundred to as few as a few dozen, for this reason it is considered critically endangered.
