Massospondylus carinatus by commander-salamander Massospondylus carinatus by commander-salamander
"Massive Vertebra"
This delightful fellow with a pot gut is a local to Late Triassic South Africa. And if you took a tape measure to him, he would be about 4 meters long.
His cousin was the mightily Plateosaurus. Just in case you wanted to know.
Massospondylus had quite large 'hands' which were equipped with large claws, and woe betide any rival male or hungry predator thatís for sure! But don't worry folks most of the time they would have been used for pulling at branches and other mundane stuff.

Nice job. Since I am just a dinosaur enthusiast and not a paleontologist I can't tell if this drawing is accurate or not so I have nothing to complain about.

I love the detail put in the skin. And the pose seems almost cute in a dumb tiny-brain kind of way.

Thank you, he is a bit of a cutie isn't he? I'm thinking of re-drawing him, I made a few mistakes with this one...

Thanks for the comments everybody. I'm rather proud of this one. Some of the structures seem a little odd but this drawing is based on a resently constructed skeleton of this beastie and I was very carefull to keep it in proportion.
He could quite possibly had a bit more of a gut, but leys just say he is hungry and hasn't had anything for a while.

Very good job. A detail, the tail seem strange with that angle on the floor. The femur seem very long too. But again, good job, particularly the skin rendering.

Not really. Quite small for some dinosaurs. Plus he's rearing up to eat leaves from a tree. Normally he would be going around on all fours.
